FBI investigating shooting at ICE facility in Texas

Shots were fired at 3 a.m. Tuesday in a “targeted attack” at two commercial buildings in San Antonio that house offices connected to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

No one was injured in the shootings, which occured in the 1700 block of Northeast Loop 410 that houses multiple tenants, including a section of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Jefferson Bank. At the same time, shots were fired in the 1800 block of Northeast Loop 410, that houses an ICE contractor, according to the FBI.

“All of the shots that we have found are on the floors where ICE had offices,” Combs said. “This is no question a very targeted attack. It’s not a secret facility, you can go online, it’s out there. So they did some research, they knew what floors ICE was on, they knew what buildings they were and they hit those”, stated the agent in charge, Chris Combs.

FBI also has been investigating threats on other ICE facilities, Combs said. In July, a 69 year-old man was fatally shot by police after hurling incendiary devices at an ICE detention center in Tacoma, Washington.

“We are concerned that there could be additional attacks, we have to stop it. We cannot allow political discourse to lead us to the point of violence, where federal employees, innocent people doing their jobs, are put in harm’s way.” Combs said.
